User Interface (UI) • USer Experience (UX) • User-Centered (UCD)

Enhancing Healthcare, One Interface at a Time.

At The Skins Factory, we pioneer healthcare UX design by leveraging our expertise as a world-class design studio to create innovative, user-centered solutions that transform patient and provider experiences. Our approach combines cutting-edge design principles with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and needs within the healthcare industry. By prioritizing intuitive, accessible, and efficient interfaces, we ensure that our designs enhance user engagement, streamline workflows, and ultimately improve patient outcomes. Our user experience designers have worked on countless medical, healthcare, healthtech, fitness, pharmaceutical, nursing, and physician reference apps. Here’s a look at a few of them:

 DocPanel

RADIOLOGY READING SERVICES
HEALTHCARE APPLICATION UI/UX DESIGN

DocPanel, the world’s largest radiology marketplace connecting imaging providers and patients to a network of over 700 US-based academic and subspecialty radiologists who provide final reads, protocol optimization support and more, contracted The Skins Factory to redesign the user interface of their outstanding healthcare service. Our design team seamlessly integrated a clean, sleek visual design language, strategically employing generous white spaces to enhance the UI and combat eye fatigue. Drawing inspiration from the timeless elegance of mid-century design, we curated a sophisticated color palette. Shades of refreshing mint green interplay with deep charcoal greys and bold blacks, imbuing the interface with a sense of understated professionalism.

Furthermore, our strategic use of color extends beyond mere decoration; each hue is carefully chosen to complement the hero color, creating a cohesive and visually pleasing composition. This cohesive integration ensures that every element of the user interface contributes seamlessly to the overall user experience, enhancing usability and engagement. This project is ongoing.

Patientory

BLOCKCHAIN-DRIVEN DAPP HealthTech Mobile APP DESIGN

Our creative agency designed over 90 mobile app screens (static & animated) and merged 2D, neumorphic, & skeuomorphic visual design languages, to introduce a more game-like user experience. The reason for gamification was to increase adoption and decrease end-user drop-offs that are common with health & fitness applications. This revolutionary healthcare dApp integrates apps, devices, & wearables while utilizing cryptocurrency as a secure payment solution and blockchain as a secure platform to manage & transfer end-user health data, to achieve actionable insights for improved health outcomes and well-being. Who says keeping healthy can’t be fun & secure?

InnovaMD Portal

RESPONSIVE BROWSER APPLICATION UI/UX DESIGN

The Skins Factory’s second outing designing InnovaMD’s healthcare portal.

The project’s discovery phase began with our team conducting User Research/Interviews. Over the course of 2 weeks, we interviewed Physicians, Clinic Administrators, and Office Personal, to learn the pain points they were experiencing with the prior version of the application, while discussing feature sets they wanted to see included in the new version of the portal. This research was vital in pinpointing where to make the necessary usability & interaction design changes.

TABLET APP UI/UX DESIGN + PRINTABLE PATIENT DISCHARGE TEMPLATE

Empowering Nurses: Unveiling the Game-Changing iPad App Designed by The Skins Factory for CareCentrix

CareCentrix, a leading home and health benefits management company, contracted The Skins Factory’s design team to create an iPad iOS application to be used by Nurses in hospitals, which provides them analytics on patient outcomes and makes recommendations for patient discharge.

One of the most important aspects to designing a user interface (UI) and user experience (UX), is understanding the demographics and environment of those who will be utilizing the application you’re designing. Nurses in hospitals work under constant, intense, fluorescent lighting, so we opted for a darker visual design that would deliver a sense of calm and purpose. During the pandemic, hospital Nurses have been under a lot of pressure, and we felt it was our job to create a tool that would not only expedite the tasks they had to perform, but also be intuitive and endearing to use. Fusing a hybrid design of flat, 2D elements with more tactile, neumorphic styling, the app is a testament to The Skins Factory’s ability to not only execute the latest design trends, but to exceed them.

★★★★★
The design they delivered was incredibly well done; it was visually awesome.

ACME Hospital Inventory Application

RESPONSIVE BROWSER APPLICATION UI/UX DESIGN

From Ordinary to Extraordinary: The Skins Factory's Impactful UI/UX Redesign for Acme's Hospital Inventory Application

The Skins Factory was brought in for two UI/UX redesign projects by Acme (the Client and service names have been changed to maintain strict confidentiality) to redesign their responsive browser applications. We focused on a super crisp, design language that deploys subtle modern trends, while making sure usability was amplified compared to the previous iterations. Foregoing utilizing a modal system, all secondary screens were created as slide-in panels. Super-wide, horizontal tables were visually broken up with colored, vertical columns.

To address the challenge of wide, horizontal tables with numerous columns, we designed the UI at a wider resolution of 3840 pixels instead of the typical 2400 pixels used in Bootstrap designs. Additionally, we implemented a Column Edit feature that allows users to select and modify column positions on the table.

MY24

AUTISM & SPECIAL NEEDS CAREGIVER TASK MANAGEMENT MOBILE APP

Get2It, a global leader in No Code development, enlisted the expertise of The Skins Factory to create a mobile application for Special Needs/Autism Caregivers and their clients/children. Recognizing the difficulties faced by parents and caregivers of individuals with special needs, The Skins Factory & Get2It spent time crafting an easy-to-use application where gamification via a task & reward system was put in place to help facilitate the completion of tasks. With their firsthand understanding of these challenges, the team aimed to deliver an intuitive and user-friendly app that would enhance the lives of caregivers and clients alike.

Great care was taken by our User Experience Designers in selecting the colors for the mobile application. We made a conscious decision to avoid using bright reds and stimulating yellows, as they can be overwhelming. Instead, we opted for calming greens and blues that are known to have a soothing effect on individuals with sensory conditions. Additionally, soft pinks, oranges, and neutral colors were chosen for their comforting properties. By keeping the color palette muted in pastel tones, we aimed to create a sense of tranquility and promote a calm state of mind.

During the initial phase of the visual design process, we conducted thorough experiments with different textures, colors, and shapes. Ultimately, we settled on incorporating a tactile visual experience into the main navigation and integrated this design language throughout the user interface.
