Do Not Oversimplify Expert Workflows
Security professionals often work quickly across dense data. Large spacing, hidden controls, and excessive step-by-step guidance can slow them down. Expert users may prefer configurable tables, keyboard interaction, saved views, bulk actions, and direct access to technical detail.
A redesign should preserve that power even while making the product more approachable for people who use it less frequently.
Give Non-Experts More Context
Administrators, executives, IT generalists, and occasional users may not understand specialized terminology or know which signals deserve attention. Helpful labels, definitions, examples, summaries, and guided actions can reduce uncertainty.
The key is to provide context without turning every screen into a tutorial. Guidance should appear where it is useful and recede when it is not.
Use Progressive Disclosure to Add Depth
A strong pattern is to present a clear summary first and make technical detail easy to access. An alert might show the primary risk, affected asset, status, and recommended action up front, while raw evidence and advanced controls remain available deeper in the view.
Different users can stop at the level of detail appropriate for their role without hiding advanced capabilities from the people who need them.
Personalization Can Reduce Compromise
Role-based defaults, saved views, adjustable density, and configurable dashboards can help one product serve different experience levels without fragmenting into separate applications.
The interaction model should remain consistent so users can move between roles and modules without relearning basic behaviors.
