Visual Design Concept - Prototype
The NFL contracted The Skins Factory to explore and create visual design elements for their 10' television interface shown on their ultra-popular television program — Total Access. Our design team created multiple comps and concepts that delivered a visually rich, on screen display that was designed to deliver a futuristic style. The images shown represent our favorite versions. Touchdown!
VOD App UI/UX Design + Brand Identity + Company/Product Name Creation
The Skins Factory developed the entire UI/UX design for FyreTV. From designing icons, mapping out the remote control to the full screen UI. We also developed the FyreTV TV Guide, the account & login screens, settings panels and even the icons & placement of them on the remote. The results as Wired.com states is a "super slick interface." The Skins Factory also came up with the brand name "FyreTV" and brand identity.

Blockbridge Networks delivers secure storage technologies for enterprise customers. The Skins Factory was brought in to design the user interface and interaction design for their flagship application. Our team of UI/UX design experts worked closely with the Blockbridge leadership to design a forward-thinking visual design not often found in enterprise-based application products.

When JamCloud, a free social music app that allows users to play music and watch videos with others in real-time, had a dream, a concept and a rough prototype they needed to turn into a working product, they contracted The Skins Factory to whip up a slick little UI to bring their product to life.

The critically acclaimed file viewer, reader, manager & audio recorder. Zen Viewer was designed by The Skins Factory with a singular purpose in mind... to design the most stylized & intuitive iOS file viewer & reader in the world. The app received outstanding reviews and critical acclaim.
Touchscreen App UI/UX Design
Panasonic Corporation of North America and our team joined forces to create the touchscreen-based interface for their Toughbook Arbitrator mobile client application — the software side of their groundbreaking Toughbook Arbitrator, a rugged revolution in law enforcement video capture. An important consideration during the development process was to create versions for both day and night use.
Browser & Mobile App UI/UX Design
Enterprise software giant RedPrairie contracted The Skins Factory to design the user interface & interaction design for multiple applications resulting in perfect symmetry between their enterprise software application user interfaces. This included 3 desktop browser interfaces, a mobile browser app & a native Android app. We also created a custom Design System for the RedPrairie developers.
iPad App UI/UX Design + Brand Identity Design
In-house proof of concept. The Skins Factory is designing Hyperlinks for iPad — a bookmark & browser experience never before seen on any platform. Manage bookmarks in categories, view your hyperlinks in multiple layouts, customize each bookmark, secure categories with passwords and even launch multiple web pages at the same time with the application's custom launchpad and browser.

Nortel contracted The Skins Factory to redesign their feature-rich communications application — the Nortel PC Client. The PC Client is an application that provides advanced IP telephony features which were not featured on traditional phones. By completion, The Skins Factory created over 45+ separate screens and UI assets with a strong focus on ease-of-use and an attractive visual design aesthetic.

Target commissioned The Skins Factory to design the main layout of their music store desktop application — StudioRed. The Skins Factory's experience designing media players is legendary, having started out as a Windows Media Player skin design studio. Our team worked closely with the creative team from Target, along with a third-party design studio who handled creating the actual music store layout.

Nero contracted The Skins Factory four separate times to design the user interface and interaction design for the Nero ShowTime media player application. The results are readily apparent — super tactile design with a generous helping of "easy-to-use" interaction design. In an effort to create a smaller "footprint" on the desktop, our team designed a special micro-mode version of the main player.

When The Skins Factory was approached to design & create iRiver's new digital jukebox user interface, iRiver Plus, our team set out to develop a style that would set this application apart in a market saturated with digital audio media players & jukeboxes. A fusion of functionality & design, iRiver Plus is the culmination of years of user interface design experience and attention to detail that vaulted this desktop audio appliance ahead of its competitors.

Motorola, Inc. and The Skins Factory collaborated on the creation of the beta user interface for their iRadio music application. The Skins Factory's design squad created a tactile environment using deep cobalt blues and shiny alloys that deliver a rich, real-world feeling to the end-user. We started with detailed wireframes before diving into the actual visual design mocks. The player was then modeled in 3D to support the animation sequences we had planned for the player.

NVIDIA & The Skins Factory presented the NVIDIA REACTOR skin for the Xfire skinnable gaming chat system. Designed like a future-world communication device, NVIDIA REACTOR with its obsidian colored glass and jet black rubber trim brings to life a Blade Runner-esque style that gamers everywhere enjoyed. The skin was so successful, NVIDIA then contracted The Skins Factory to create a custom Windows Media Player skin that shared the same design language — one of our most popular WMP skins ever.
Mobile App UI/UX Design, Brand Identity
Zen Viewer for iPhone was a prototype app design The Skins Factory mocked up as a follow-up to our critically-acclaimed iPad app: Zen Viewer HD. Zen Viewer for iPhone offered a structured folder architecture for storing & viewing document files, images, music, videos and even allows you to record & playback your own audio files. While never reaching code development, Zen Viewer for iPhone demonstrates The Skins Factory's prowess when it comes to UI & UX design.
Desktop Client App UI/UX Design, Brand Identity
Hyperdesk was The Skins Factory's Windows desktop customization software application, that allows users to transform the appearance of their regular Windows desktop with an endless array of exciting desktop themes, skins, wallpapers, widgets and other applications called hypersuites. These works of art have been painstakingly hand-crafted by the world's most talented commercial interface artists at The Skins Factory. Maximum PC stated: "the skins created by The Skins Factory, Hyperdesk's creators, are nothing short of artistic wonders."

TDK Electronics Corporation came to The Skins Factory to build the default interface for their proprietary audio player. The TDK Digital MixMaster was part of the CD Blender Software Suite of applications that shipped with their veloCD reWriters. While this is a little bulky in terms of today's UI design language, in 2001, when we created this, it was cutting edge. This is proof positive that we were ahead of our time, even when our studio was only a year old. ZDNet called our UI design: "a spiffy, circular skin."
